Member Benefits 060: Techniques Tools

Polymer Clay Membership SiteWOW thank you for this Cindy. I have always loved the mica shift technique, but was never good at it. You taught me something new that will help a lot, and that was the putting the clay on the rounded surface to slice. I am anxious to try the slicing that way. I am not good at the bending of the blade. Thanks again for a great, informative video. ~Kriss-J >> Original comment was posted here: Polymer Clay Mica Shift Tutorial

I made some extruder canes today coverd some old beads and I love it, it was so easy I just wanted to go on and on making more. If Makins made a very large exruder, wow could we have fun lol. Thank you Cindy. ~Ritzs >> Original comment was posted here: Polymer Clay Instructions

Just wanted to let you know that this video has kicked my butt into gear with getting into clay jewelry design. I’ve been sitting on the idea for a while. I was teetering the line of “no it doesn’t look authentic so I won’t try it” mentality until I saw your opals. Opals are my favourite of the delicate precious stones and I couldn’t believe how realistic your clay opals look! Thanks! ~Katrina-S >> Original comment was posted here: Polymer Clay Faux Opals

Wow, again you make it soooo easy!! I really like the Gingham lentil bead that you did, it’s so cool!! Thanks again, Cindy, for all you do!! ~Laura-Z >> Original comment was posted here: Gingham Cane Extruder Project

Great Video! Didn’t think I could ever do anything with wire and now you have made it look so easy that I am excited to try it! Thanks for the informative and very different video. Was most interesting. ~Charlene-P >> Original comment was posted here: Hammered Copper Findings

I am so pleased I found your site; I bought the archived section 4 as my first purchase as I had looked all over the net for practical help on using the dremel.  I loved your videos – a great big thanks. ~Lore-C >> Original comment was posted here: Buffing Polymer Clay Beads

Perfect timing Cindy. I just ordered an extruder last night. Can’t wait to get it and follow your video. ~Shelly-N >> Original comment was posted here: Clay Extruder Mod Cane

Cindy you are amazing… thank you for replying back. I did use Premo.. I will try the leaching technique. I do use the technique you talked about when sanding a piece. I will try this again. Thanks. ~Nancy-R >> Original comment was posted here: Alcohol Ink Effects on Crackled Gold Leaf

Wow! You make it look so easy AND beautiful. I had planned on doing housework today… But… Thanks so much! ~Dawn-B >> Original comment was posted here: Torn Paper Water Color Technique

I am so excited this week is finally here. I have been waiting for your faux opal tutorial. We are on spring break here and I have everything ready to start Friday morning. Air head here finally found macro on my camera so will send you some pictures of the opals I make. Thank you so much for all you do for us. You are just amazing!!!!! ~Linda-B >> Original comment was posted here: Faux Opal Bake and Bond Technique

I loved making the faux agates – will probably use more colour from old canes next time, although the beads are pretty, but a little too toffee-like (Werthers Originals anyone?). ~Judy-M >> Original comment was posted here: Faux Agate Domed Coin Beads

This is an awesome technique! Finally tried it out and now that my micro mesh pads came in, I was able to sand it to a nice shine. Next I will try UV resin (when it comes in) and see how it all looks together. This is so much fun; loving the bright colors :) ~Rada-F >> Original comment was posted here: Faux Dichroic Glass Video

Great technique Cindy. I have dabbled with this idea a bit but never thought of taking it to the extent you have. Friday has become my favorite day of the week! ~Martha-L >> Original comment was posted here: Blend and Switch Technique

What an amazing idea! Thank you very much :-) ~Isa-J >> Original comment was posted here: Polymerized Cloth Mixed Media

Cindy and Doug, you have obviously made our day!!! This is a wonderful tute, I too have made a rose cane before but this one looks great. Reading the posts about the white premo, I’m also glad I’m not the only one that has trouble with this one. Maybe the manufacturers need to know about this? ~Sandra-J >> Original comment was posted here: Backgroundless Shaded Rose Cane

Oh, Cindy – this new technique is just genius – not to mention amazingly beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing it with us! ~Laurel-S >> Original comment was posted here: Aurora Technique Northern Lights

Cool video, Cindy! I love the way the braclets look and the flashing is only 57 cents for 5×7 at Ace Hardware. Makes a cheap blank for bangles! ~Jennifer-T >> Original comment was posted here: Hammered Metal Bracelet Blanks

One tip on cutting clay for bezels, press the bezel into the clay just enough to leave an impression and it will give you lines to cut on. This only works with bezels with straight inside walls but works well. I did not invent this technique but saw it somewhere else. ~Terry-M >> Original comment was posted here: Tips For Filling Metal Bezels

Well done, Cindy! I’ve had oodles of grommets but hadn’t worked out “exactly how” to do these beads so you did the work for me. They look very professional and I’m anxious to give them a try. Thanks so much. ~Barb-A >> Original comment was posted here: Pandora Style Beads
